"A guide to protecting children and young people with disability and preventing sexual abuse"
Sexual abuse and assault are prevalent within the disability community and the wider community at large, and have lifelong consequences for the victims and their families. The booklet is a companion to the Second Edition of “Protecting Children and Young People with Disability: A Booklet for Parents and Carers.” The guide provides information on sexual abuse and aims to help families/carers keep their children/young people safe through teaching children about relationships, sexuality, and safety, as well as the educating carers on the signs of sexual abuse, how to respond to sexual abuse and lists useful resources and contacts. We would like to thank everyone who was involved in creating this resource and encourage everyone to take the time to thoroughly read both resources.
